About Formosa I
Formosa 1 is jointly developed by Macquarie Capital, Ørsted and Swancor. While Swancor Renewable will continue to lead the project through site development and construction, Ørsted will provide advisory services. Macquarie Capital will work closely with Ørsted and Swancor Renewable to complete the development and construction of the project. JERA agreed to acquire equity stake in the Formosa 1, subject to customary condition precedents including regulatory approvals.
The total installation capacity of Formosa I is 128MW; the first phase commissioned in 2017 having a capacity of 8MW; the second phase, to be completed in 2019 will have capacity of 120MW. Formosa 1 is located about 2-6 kilometers off the coast of Miaoli County in northwestern Taiwan.

The 128MW Formosa I project represents Taiwan’s first utility-scale offshore wind farm. The first phase of 8MW has been successfully operating since 2017, the second phase of 120MW will be completed in 2019.

Swancor Renewable, a wholly owned subsidiary of Swancor, has been engaged in Taiwan offshore wind power business since 2013. Phase I 8MW of Formosa I, Taiwan’s first offshore wind farm, is already in commercial operating. Phase II 120MW will be built in 2019. Formosa II has signed 376MW power purchase agreement with Taipower will be delivered in 2020. Formosa III with 2000MW installation capacity is located in Changhua County.
